There’s that famous belief where, “if its green then it’s clean!”, which makes a whole lot of sense to Green Brunei – a youth led for-purpose organisation that champions the green movement in Brunei through a community-based approach.
Since its establishment its activities have encompassed education, conservation and advocacy working in partnership with multi-level stakeholders including government agencies, private sector, schools and NGOs.
One of the flagship programmes by the organisation is the Green Leaders Camp that has been running every school holiday since 2014. It regularly gathers up to 40 youths and aspiring environmentalists per session to learn and dialogue about realities of climate change and the significance of taking action in preserving natural resources over 3-4 days which include site visits to various locations related to the theme of the programme. After the programme ends, the participants are challenged to create and deliver environmental projects as a pay it forward initiative.
Green Brunei aspires to continue making an impact in the coming year in areas such as art exhibition, camps and dialogues. Let’s go Green together and support the organisation by volunteering or supporting their initiative, which you can read more on their website green-brunei.com.
